Memorial walk planned in Chilson Cemetery

TICONDEROGA The second annual Veterans Cemetery Memorial Walk will be held at the Chilson Cemetery on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. The Memorial Walk is presented to help all of us remember those veterans who served our country and who have aided us in preserving the freedoms that we enjoy today, said Bill Dolback, Ticonderoga Historian. The walk is being organized by Dolback and is co-sponsored by the Chilson Community Cemetery Association. Dolback is looking for information of veterans buried at the cemetery. He would like photos, preferably in uniform, service records and personal histories. Copying assistance is available. Again this year a walk-about brochure will be given out and would make as a nice keepsake, Dolback said. We encourage family relatives to participate in this program. Last years walk at Mount Hope Cemetery was very well received by the families of veterans honored and by the attending public. Refreshments will follow the ceremony at the Chilson Community Center. Anyone with veterans information can contact Dolback at 585-6662 or the Ticonderoga Historical Society at 585-7868. Also sponsoring the event are the town of Ticonderoga cemetery board and the Ticonderoga Historical Society.
