Re-elect Kitty Oxholm

To the editor: I am a fifth-generation Vermonter and, as such, am very independent and proud of it. That independence carries into my political views. I weigh issues, candidates positions on these issues and the individuals strengths and weaknesses. Ultimately I support and vote for candidates, not political parties. This personal process has led me to believe that Kitty Oxholm should be re-elected as one of our representatives from the towns of Addison, Ferrisburgh, Panton, Vergennes and Waltham and I am writing to urge you to join me in voting for her. I worked beside Kitty for over 12 years, until we both retired this summer. During that time I watched her balance the best interests of children and families with the best interests of the schools on a daily basis. It was sometimes a difficult position to be in and it was often impossible to please everyone. Yet Kitty was able to weigh the facts, sort out the emotions involved and consistently facilitate results that were fair and appropriate. Over the past two years I observed Kitty using the same approach in her role as a legislator. She listened, weighed the facts, sorted out the emotional issues and acted in the manner that she felt best met the interests of both her constituents and the state of Vermont. Kitty is extremely intelligent, a good listener, an excellent mediator in contentious and emotionally charged situations, thoughtful in her decision making, fiscally conservative and, above all, honest and forthright and fair. These abilities and strengths provide the foundation for Kittys participation in the legislative process. They are the abilities and strengths that I want to see in my representative and Kitty Oxholm is my candidate of choice. Donna Corcoran, Waltham
