Group releases video on West Brook

LAKE GEORGE The Fund for Lake George released a video this week about the West Brook Conservation Initiative that aims to transform much of the 12-acre Gaslight Village propertyin downtown Lake George into an environmental park. Here, long-buried wetlands will be restored and used to treat stormwater to remove sediment and nutrients before waters reach Lake George. This park will also include new public recreational trails and gazebos with boardwalks to facilitate self-guided educational trails. The project also focuses on the permanent protection of the uplands of West Brook, through the purchase of the 1,400-acre Berry Pond tract. This video tells the story of the most ambitious environmental project ever undertaken on Lake George. said Peter Bauer, Executive Director of the FUND for Lake George. Its designed to provide an ecological benefit to Lake George, which has been experiencing declining water quality over the past decades. Lake George is the most important asset in the area. Its vital to the local economy and quality of life. The seven-minute video has been posted on YouTube and the Fund for Lake Georges website, see www.fundforlakegeorge.org or www.lakegeorgewaterkeeper.org. The video runs for seven minutes.
