Obama's stance on abortion unacceptable

To the editor: We have been subjected to information overload from politicians seeking our vote. We have seen poll results, interviews and speeches on what they feel are the most important issues to us and what their position is on the issues. Since Senator McCain is pro-life, I would like to address the greatest civil rights struggle of our time, abortion, and Senator Obamas stand on life issues. Senator Obama is the most pro-abortion member of the Senate. He is a staunch supporter of abortion rights what he calls reproductive justice. He supports the partial birth abortion procedure where a partially delivered babys skull is stabbed with scissors, the brains sucked out ending its life, thus allowing the completion of this barbaric procedure. Thrice, Obama helped block a bill that was designed solely to protect the life of infants already born and outside the womb who had survived the attempt to kill them during an abortion. Thrice, Obama voted to let these tiny human beings die of neglect and be tossed out with the medical waste. Is Obama willing to betray his most loyal and devoted supporters African Americans? Although blacks constitute roughly 13 percent of Americans, 37 percent of all abortions are performed on black women. Since Roe v. Wade, 10 million black pregnancies have been aborted; therefore, abortion has claimed the lives of about one-third of the black community. This is genocide. For Mr. Obama not to speak out about this national scandal is a disgrace both to him and his party. It reveals that he lacks the moral clarity and courage to lead this country. (Paraphrased, Jeffrey Kuhner, Washington Times) Senator Obama, will you continue to condone the killing of Black Americans by supporting abortion? Vote for-Life. Bart Gaffney Jay, NY
