Meet the queen of Vermont baggers

HINESBURG 18 year-old Amber Jaro of Lantmans Best Yet Market in Hinesburg bested other competitors to become the 2008 Vermont Best Bagger. The competition took place September 27 during the Vermont Food Industrys annual convention and expo at the Miller Expo Centre at the Champlain Valley Exposition. Amber, an employee of Lantmans for the past two years, won the competition from a field of contestants from supermarkets around the state. Store owner, Brian Busier said, We are very proud of her performance at the competition and look forward to cheering her on at the nationals. Amber is a senior at Champlain Valley Union High School. Her next competition will be in Las Vegas, representing Vermont at the national contest this winter, which is held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the National Grocers Association. Second place honors went to Elizabeth Santamore, while third went to Shane Quinn of Price Chopper. Judges for this years event were three past leaders of the association, Norm Blouin, Gail Horne and Tom Mehuron.
