Wild Center receives GET SET grant

TUPPER LAKE The Wild Center announced last week the receipt of a GET SET grant totalling $3,000 to retain the services of a museum evaluation specialist. According to museum officials, the grant will be used to pay Randi Korn, of Randi Korn and Associates, Inc., to develop and organizational plan for the Wild Center. The funding was made possible through a GET SET grant from the New York State Council on the Arts and was administered through the Upstate History Alliance. Korn has helped a number of museums study and understand their audiences for 19 years. With a Master of Arts in Museum Studies and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Visual Communications, Korn will be instrumental in developing a strategic plan for the museum as it moves forward. According to Wild Center executive director Stephanie Ratcliffe, Korns experience at the Chicago Academy of Sciences and the J. Paul Getty Museum will be a perfect for the upcoming organizational development workshop at the museum. The workshop will help guide the Museums leadership team, staff and board members as they crystallize the draft of a comprehensive strategic plan, said Ratcliffe. GET SET grants help museums and historical societies develop institutions and create stronger bonds within the community.
