LONG LAKE On Oct. 8, The American Red Cross will be holding their semi-annual blood drive at the Long Lake town hall. From 11:45 a.m.-5 p.m., healthy hopefuls need to bring a form of I.D. and roll up their sleeves. All attempts will be gratefully rewarded with some home made sweet treats prepared by the ladies of Long Lake. Driver Safety Course: On Oct. 22 from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., the Town of Long Lake will be offering a driver safety class at the town hall. Upon completion of the course, registrants will receive a point reduction on their license or a discount from their insurance company. You must bring your drivers license to the class. Call (518) 624-3077 to register. Annual Harvest Festival craft fair: On Oct. 11, Long Lake will hold their annual craft fair at the town hall. The Harvest Festival Craft Fair is from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday of Columbus Day Weekend. There will be a wide variety of talented crafters displaying their many wares for your purchasing pleasure! Theres also fall theme produce such as apples, pumpkins, gourds, squash, apple cider and mums. And Guess The Weight of the Pile of Pumpkins at a $1 a chance, the closest guess to the actual weight takes all the money! There will also be an apple press, with any luck there will be fresh apple juice to sample! T.H.E. Loop: On Oct. 4, T.H.E. (Touch-Heal-Empower) 3rd Annual Loop Motorcycle Ride will be held. An annual fund raising motorcycle ride from Long Lake through Newcomb, Minerva, North Creek, Indian Lake, Blue Mountain and back to Long Lake- ending at the Mt. Sabattis Pavilion. The Image Fund at the C.R. Woods Cancer Center in Glens Falls and The AMC Cares Image Fund at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake benefit from all pledges. 100% of the monies raised is used for patient care at the two facilities.
