The Source announces Grand Opening Oct. 10

NORTH CREEK In life you will see great ideas come and go. Some sticking around longer than others and sometimes the idea is so obvious it comes together like peanut butter and jelly or raft guides in the springtime, skiers in the winter, and hikers in the off season. The new store opening in North Creek, called The Source, was more than a great idea, its filling a critical niche in our small booming town. The hub of Gore Mountain ski area and the home of arguably the best whitewater in the Adirondacks, North Creek is lacking a place to buy and sell outdoor gear. But as of Columbus Day Weekend, this niche will finally be filled. Your Source for new and used outdoor gear is here! Located on Route 28N, just north of the 4-way intersection in North Creek, The Source is the Adirondacks newest store for new and consigned outdoor gear. Owners Stephanie Leonard and Jeff Palka are residents of the Gore Mountain Region, both relocating to the Adirondacks in 2003. During the Summer months, these two entrepreneurs can be spotted on the Hudson River Gorge. Stephanie is a professional photographer, snapping pictures of the adventurous rafters and Jeff is a NYS licensed whitewater guide for Adirondack Adventures. Conversely, during the winter season, both partners can be found on Gore Mountain. Jeff is a NSP-certified ski patroller and, in the past, Stephanie has supervised the operations of Gores Photo Department. The idea to open up a new and used outdoor gear store began as a late night conversation. Within a few weeks, details were being worked out and a preliminary business plan had been drafted. Luckily for the duo, Stephanie owned the house and storefront that would become the home for their new venture. The Source is now accepting used gear for consignment. Clean out your closets and bring in your used skis, boards, packs, jackets, fleeces, boots, kayaks, canoes, paddles, etc. today! The grand opening of The Source will be held Friday, October 10, just in time for North Creeks Harvest Festival. Regular hours will be Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call (518) 251-4068 or e-mail Thegearsource@hotmail.com for more information.
