Spooky goings-on at the Bixby Library

VERGENNES The Bixby Library in Vergennes will be transformed to a haunt of fright for its third annual Spook Night to feature Vermonter, novelist and public radio commentator, Joe Citro, Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. An expert in Vermonts occult lore and ghost stories, Citro requests your presence as he introduces you to some of Vermont's best-loved ghosts, monsters and madmen. His classic best-selling Green Mountain Ghosts, Ghouls and Unsolved Mysteries (1994), together with his Green Mountains, Dark Tales (1999) comprise the most comprehensive collection of offbeat Vermont lore ever assembled. His other paranormal page-turners include The Vermont Ghost Guide (2000), Passing Strange (1996), Curious in New England (2003), Cursed in New England (2004) and Weird in New England (2005). Relax (if you can) in the quiet of the library and listen for sounds from the other world. Meet local ghosts. Swap stories. Dare to be scared. Citro's books will be available for purchase after the event. For additional information on this and other programs in the Bixby Library's Third Thursday series, contact the library at 802-877-2211. This Third Thursday event is free and open to the public.
