CHESTERTOWN In the midst of challenging economic times, an organization is being formed to lend support to the students of North Warren Central School. The North Warren Booster Club, dormant for many years, is being launched on behalf of the students and their school-related activities, club organizer Amy Peet said Monday. Peet said that about a half-dozen mothers of students had banded together this past week to organize an effort to raise money for field trips, uniforms, Varsity jackets, extracurricular equipment and activities that werent already funded by the school. We have a huge support base and we want to maximize opportunities for our local students, Peet said. We want to get the entire community involved again with the school. The groups first fundraising venture will be starting Monday, she said. The Booster Club is sponsoring a raffle with a drawing for $1,000 worth of fuel gasoline, diesel, or heating oil with only 75 tickets offered for sale at $25 each at various Chestertown businesses. The raffle tickets will be available at McCluskeys Hardware or Buckman Family Fuels, both on state Rte. 9; and at Living Floors on Church St. The raffle drawing will be held Dec. 15 at North Warren Central, and the winner will be contacted by phone, she said. Those who would like to become involved in planning and conducting North Warren Booster Club activities are urged to contact Tanya May at firstname.lastname@example.org or Amy Peet @ 494-5400, Peet said. We are looking forward to getting the area communities active in the school, she said. We hope this takes off like a rocket!
