Village gathering opinions on dissolving

LAKE GEORGE Monday, the village of Lake George launched a survey of residents in the town and village of Lake George regarding their opinions and concerns over the dissolution of the village government. The survey, the results will be available online at www.villageoflakegeorge.us and in print at the Village Hall. Responses will be collected until Friday, Dec. 12. The survey is one way method in which the Villages Dissolution Study Committee, chaired by Village Trustee John Root, seeks to gather public input. In order to craft a workable Dissolution Plan, we request the residents of the town and village of Lake George to participate, Root said in a prepared statement The public is also encouraged to voice their opinions through the committees monthly meetings, including the Nov. meeting at 7 pm. Thurs. Nov. 20 in the village hall. The study is slated to be completed by the end of 2008, with the dissolution resolution scheduled to go before village voters at the next regular election in March 200. According to state Law, at least two additional public hearings must be held before dissolution is put to a vote. One public hearing will be held at the end of the year after the Dissolution Study Committee completes its study of the costs and benefits. Before the village board resolves to put the topic on the March ballot, another public hearing will be held. Announcements for these meetings will publicized. More information on the dissolution study can be found at www.fairweatherconsulting.com/LakeGeorge.
