Community support has helped family through tragedy

To the editor: The Quinns and Careys would like to take the opportunity to express our gratitude for the overwhelming support of the community over the past few months. You hear about tragedies in the news, but they dont really happen, right? Well, unfortunately we now know how very real they are. In our worst nightmares we could not have imagined the horrible end to our summer with the disappearance of Jeremy. Truly nothing brings out the best in small towns more than tragedy. Our family was immediately surrounded by the comfort of the tight-knit communities of Keene, Keene Valley, Lake Placid and beyond. It was a constant reminder that with all the bad in the world, that there are so many good people to offset it. We are very fortunate to live in such a wonderful place. Just as our lives have been forever changed by the tragic loss of Jeremy, so too have our lives been changed by the outpouring of love, support and kindnesses that we have received from our friends and neighbors. As our communities share our grief, we can all be comforted by the wonderful memories Jeremy has left with us. From a headstone in Ireland, Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. May we all find peace in the fact that Jeremy was able to pack so much happiness into his 38 years of life. The Family of Jeremy Quinn
