Larry D. Gouge has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Gouge, a search and rescue controller, is assigned to the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center, Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City, Fla. He has served in the military for 18 years. He is the son of Dean Gouge of Laurel Ridge Drive, Old Fort, N.C. His wife, Mary Jo, is the daughter of James and Lynda Myers of Morrisonville. The lieutenant colonel graduated in 1984 from McDowell High School, Marion, N.C., and received a bachelors degree in 1988 from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Gouge earned a masters degree in 1995 from Webster University, St. Louis, Mo.
