RUTLAND - Vermont's Child Development Division officials announced that Rutland Public School Tapestry programs, accredited licensed afterschool programs coordinated by Diana Pfenning, have joined Vermont's Step Ahead Recognition System (STARS) for child care, preschool and afterschool programs with five stars of recognition.
Achieving both STARS recognition and accreditation is an extraordinary accomplishment that highlights the enormous efforts undertaken by the Tapestry Programs at Rutland Public School Northeast, Rutland Town School and Rutland Public School at R.I.S.
The Tapestry programs are fully collaborative with the Rutland public schools and provide a place for children beyond the traditional school hours and in the summer. The program provides learning opportunities, multicultural and enrichment experiences in a climate of mutual respect and dignity for all children from kindergarten to the eighth grade.
"We are pleased to welcome these Rutland Public School Tapestry Programs to the STARS program," said Kim Keiser, Deputy Commissioner of the Department for Children and Families. "This achievement confirms their commitment to providing quality child care and education, and we look forward to many other Rutland County child care, preschool and afterschool programs joining them."
STARS allows child care providers to receive one to five stars based on the number of points they achieve across five self-assessment areas.
