Seniors to present "Ducktails and Bobbysox"

SCHROON LAKE The 1950s will come alive when the Schroon Lake Central School senior class presents its annual senior play. The students will perform Ducktails and Bobbysox Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7 and 8, in the school auditorium. Both shows will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets, priced at $6 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens, will be sold at the door. Anita Masiello and Wendy Sargent are directing the play. Anne Gregson and Dennis Root have designed and constructed the sets. Sargent has made the costumes. Ducktails and Bobbysox is the tale of 1950s rock n roll star Curtis Jackson, who makes a surprise visit to the small town of Victor. There he finds a football hero who is kidnapped before the big homecoming game, an empty-headed waitress of the local malt shop, a charmingly clumsy couple who find love under the stars and a trio of very cheery cheerleaders. But all is not well in Victor as the local malt shop bobbysoxers are plagued by the invasion of a motorcycle gang called the Yellow Jackets, led by Wheels and his girlfriend Alice. The Yellow Jackets dont take nothin from nobody. Its not long before the Bobbysoxers from Grant High go up against the Yellow Jackets and square off in the malt shop. Adding to the fun of the show are impersonations of famous 1950s rock stars such as Elvis and Buddy Holly.
