Junior Miss program set

CROWN POINT Crown Point will host its 23rd annual Junior Miss scholarship program Saturday, Nov. 8. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Crown Point Central School auditorium. Tickets are $5 each and will be limited to 300. Tickets are now available from Kim Woods at Champlain National Bank and Bette Pertak at Crown Point Central School. Tickets are also available by calling Jill Spring at 597-3789 or Pertak at 597-3285. Competing for the Junior Miss title are Emma Ofner, Kaitlin Gudikunst, Heidi Clark and Paige Dolback. The girls have been practicing for the last eight weeks learning their routes, practicing talent and working with their honorary little sisters, said Spring. We have seven third grade girls working on the platform Junior. Miss has, Be your Best Self. The program will award more than $2,500 in college scholarships this year. The committee would like to thank all the people and local businesses for their monetary and gifts donations to the program, Spring said. The program has awarded over $40,000 over the years. Intermission entertainment will be provide by 14 junior boys and girls modeling fashions from Sagans and Fashion Corner in Port Henry. The contestants and little sisters are also selling raffle tickets for prizes to be drawn the night of the show. Contestants will be judged on physical fitness, self expression, talent, scholastic achievement and individual interviews with judges. The winner will represent Crown Point in the state Junior Miss program to be held in Buffalo. The New York State winner advances to the national Junior Miss program in Mobile, Ala., next June.
