Thomas the Tank Engine rolls into town

NORTH CREEK On Memorial Day weekend, the arrival of Thomas the Tank Engine at the Upper Hudson River Railroad brought thousands of visitors to the region. The excitement and amazement was obvious as crowds of adoring fans waited patiently for their chance to enjoy the Day out with Thomas 2008: The Great Discovery Tour. Following the 25-minute ride along the scenic Hudson River, children and adults also found entertainment in a miniature carnival setup along the tracks, complete with bouncy houses, clowns, craft stations - and of course, tasty treats. This years event is the third time that Thomas promoters have selected the region as a stop on their annual tour, a good sign for the local economy and testament to the regions ability to draw a significant number of visitors to the area. I love Thomas! announced Trevor Stafford, age 5, of Troy. Sir Topham Hatt said hello to me! Parents also enjoyed the beautiful weekend, and marveled at the regionss offerings. We had no idea the kind of history that was up here, Nancy Carling of Schenectady, said. The museum is wonderful and I think well be back again. Thomas will remain in North Creek for one last weekend, Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1, before rolling along to the next stop on his tour.
