Milda Burns to speak in Thurman

THURMAN Milda Burns of North River will bring her incomparable storytelling gift to Thurman Town Hall on Tuesday, June 3, at 7 p.m., where she will tell tales of early hotels in Johnsburg and Thurman. She will touch on hotels that served travelers from 1817 until the turn of the century, including the Grove Hotel at The Glen, Guy Brooks Hotel and the Crotch Hotel. A return guest of the John Thurman Historical Society by popular demand, Burns repertoire includes stories of river drives, the early days of the Adirondack/D& H Railroad, and area Civil War veterans. The public is invited free of charge to this entertaining and educational program, and refreshments will be served. Thurman Town Hall is located at 311 Athol Road, Athol, NY 12810.
