Ticonderoga, Crown Point clinch division titles

Ticonderoga and Crown Point clinched division championships in softball play this week. Ticonderoga 33,Saranac Lake 5 Ticonderoga clinched the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Division II softball championship with a 33-5 thrashing of Saranac Lake May 19. Katie Karkoski had three hits and six runs batted in for Ti. Samantha Cawley rapped five hits for the Sentinels. Julie Thompson and Morgan Jordan each had three hits for the champs. Crown Point 30, ELCS 1 Crown Point clinched the Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference Northern Division softball championship with a 30-1 rout of Elizabethtown-Lewis May 15. Its the seventh division title in the past eight years for the Panthers. Jordan McGinness had a huge game for Crown Point. She hurled a one-hitter, fanning seven, over four innings for the mound victory. She also had three hits and six runs batted in. Ashley Zapolski added three hits, while Jessica Potter had three RBI for the winners. Crown Point 15, Keene 4 Crown Point routed Keene, 15-4, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference softball action May 13. Ala Terentyeva, Ashley Zapolski and Hope Lacey each blasted two-run homers to pace the Panthers. Jonalee Ross gained the pitching win. Saranac 13, Moriah 0 Saranac blanked Moriah, 13-0, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference softball play May 14. The Vikings managed just three hits. Ticonderoga 5, NAC 3 Ticonderoga beat Northern Adirondack, 5-3, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference softball play May 16. Ashley St. Andrews delivered a two-run triple in the sixth inning as Ti rallied for the win. Maranda Wells also drove in two runs for the Sentinels. Moriah 4, Plattsburgh 3 Liz Wallaces walk-off single gave Moriah a 4-3 win against Plattsburgh in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference softball play May 16. Courtney Waldron had three hits for the Vikings. Wallace and Kaycee Kolodzey each had a pair of hits for the winners. Schroon Lake 10, ELCS 6 Schroon Lake 17, ELCS 2 Schroon Lake swept a doubleheader from Elizabethtown-Lewis in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference softball action May 17. Schroon won the opener, 10-6, as Ashley Whitty had three runs batted in. Kiersten Langabeer plated two runs for the winners. The Wildcats took the nightcap, 17-2, as Mindy Whitty had three hits and three RBI. Savannah Clark was the winning hurler in both contests. Beekmantown 8, Moriah 1 Moriah lost to Beekmantown, 8-1, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference softball play May 19. Courtney Waldron ripped a home run for Moriah. Crown Point 30, Westport 1 Crown Point downed Westport, 30-1, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference softball action May 19. Jessica Potter and Ashley Zapolski each had home runs for the Panthers. Paige Dolbeck, Ala Terentyeva and Potter each had three hits for the winners. Keene 7, Schroon Lake 6 Keene edged Schroon Lake, 7-6, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference softball action May 20. The Beavers won the game on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh. Kiersten Langabeer had three hits for Schroon. Ashley Whitty, Savannah Clark and Melinda Whitty each had two knocks for the Wildcats.
