Panthers, Sentinels roll to diamond victories

Crown Point topped Elizabethtown-Lewis, 8-5, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball play May 14. Adam Clark had a pair of run-scoring hits for the Panthers. Cody Wayman hurled a complete game for the win, fanning eight batter. Indian Lake/Long Lake 17, Schroon Lake 4 Schroon Lake lost to Indian Lake/Long Lake, 17-4, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball play May 14. Kyle Bush had a pair of runs batted in for Schroon. Ticonderoga 3, Plattsburgh 0 Hunter Denno fired a shutout to lead Ticonderoga past Plattsburgh, 3-0, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball action May 15. Denno scattered three hits and struck out seven. Ti scored all its runs during a second-inning rally. Anthony Barnao singled, Tyler Bush walked and Jake Taylor had an infield hit to load the bases for the Sentinels. An error allowed two runs to score. Another walk and a hit batter forced into the final tally for Ti. Saranac 16, Moriah 6 Moriah lost to Saranac, 16-6, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball action May 15. Caleb Armstrong had two hits for Moriah. Schroon Lake 11, Keene 1 Schroon Lake trounced Keene, 11-1, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball play May 16. Ethan Tyrrell worked six inning, fanning nine, and George Egan struck out the side in the final inning for Schroon. Brian Horton had two hits for the Wildcats. Crown Point 12, Westport 1 Crown Point beat up Westport, 12-1, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball play May 16. Mark Ashline had five runs batted in for the Panthers. Cody Wayman and Nathan Tabor each had two RBI for the winners. Ticonderoga 6, NAC 3 Ticonderoga downed Northern Adirondack, 6-3, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball action May 17. Todd Carr had two hits to pace the Sentinel attack. Matt Streeter got the mound win, working in relief. Moriah 16, Lake Placid 3 Moriah crushed Lake Placid, 16-3, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball action May 17. Tyler Trombley had four hits and two RBI, while Dave Mandy had three hits and three RBI for the Vikings. Tim Martin scattered eight hits in gaining the pitching win. Schroon Lake 6, ELCS 2 Schroon Lake downed Elizabethtown-Lewis, 6-2, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball play May 20. Ethan Tyrrell fired a two-hitter, fanning 13, to pace the Wildcats. Wesley Beers had two hits, including a home run, to lead the Schroon attack. Ticonderoga 13, Saranac Lake 2 Ticonderoga pounded Saranac Lake, 13-2, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball action May 20. Tyler Bush hurled a five-hitter for Ti. Krys Ross had three hits for the Sentinels. Dan Steitz, Jake Taylor, Matt Streeter, Steve Lenhart and Hunter Denno each had two hits for the winners. Beekmantown 15, Moriah 2 Moriah lost to Beekmantown, 15-2, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball action May 20. The Vikings managed just three hits.
