CERT to host emergency response class

NEW HAVEN Addison County CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is holding a Basic CERT class from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and May 28, at the New Haven Public Safety Building (State Police) on Route 7. Lunch will be provided. The class complies with CERT requirements for participation in the program, educating people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their lives and the community. Attendees will learn basic disaster response skills, including fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. The training learned in the classroom and during exercises prepares CERT members to assist in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT is part of the Citizen Corps, an initiative that encourages resident participation in homeland security. Call Pip or Annie Wales at 802-545-2575, or via e-mail at: anniewales@gmavt.net to register for the class or for further information.
