UVM softball wraps up regular season

BURLINGTON The University of Vermont softball team wraps up the regular season this weekend when the Catamounts played host to visiting Stony Brook for a three-game America East series. The Seawolves were 26-20-1 on the year overall and 11-7 in America East play. Stony Brook dropped a pair of non-league games at Sacred Heart on Wednesday, but enter the weekend having already secured a spot in the four-team America East Championship next weekend. Marissa Fleury is the teams top hitter with a .342 batting average, six home runs and 26 RBI. Alyssa Struzenberg has been one of the leagues top pitchers this season as she is 18-8 overall with a 2.08 ERA and 203 strikeouts. Stony Brook took two out of three from Vermont last season, but the two teams have split in their last six overall. Special thanks to UVM for permission to reprint sports news and photos.
