I-89 crash under investigation

BURLINGTON On April 21, at approximately 6:05 p.m., driver Mark Dastalto, age 50, of South Burlington was exiting his white 2001 Jeep off the southbound travel lanes of Interstate 89, on the Exit 14E off ramp, when the operator attempted to swerve to avoid an object in the roadway. Dastalto exited the travel portion of the ramp, crossing over the ditch, into the travel portion of the Exit 14 southbound on ramp. The front drivers side of Dastaltos car crashed into the front drivers side of a red 2005 Saturn driven by Laura Crosby, age 22, of Burlington. Both operators were transported to Fletcher Allen Health Care by rescue. At this time, medical personnel are continuing their evaluation/assessment of both and their specific injuries are unknown. This crash is currently under investigation. Anyone witnessing the crash is encouraged to contact the Vermont State Police.
