Museum needs help with local Civil War resources

MIDDLEBURY Have you ever wanted to know more about Addison County in the Civil War era? The Henry Sheldon Museum is starting a community project called the Civil War Workshop. Museum officials need your help in identifying Civil War sources from all of the countys towns. They will also be exploring the rich document collection at the Henry Sheldon Museum. This is a chance for you to be a history detective, working with actual Civil War letters, newspapers, diaries and photos. The result will be a database of all local Civil War resources. Museum staff members encourage you to bring any knowledge you have of the Civil Wars impact on Addison Country. If youd like to be a part of this project, please come to the Civil War Workshop organizational meeting at the Henry Sheldon Museum on Thursday, March 20, 6 -8 p.m. For more information, call Orson Kingsley, Research Center Librarian, at the Henry Sheldon Museum, 802/388-2117. The Henry Sheldon Museum is located at 1 Park St. in downtown Middlebury, across from the Ilsley Public Library. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Research Center is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 1-5 p.m. and Thursday 1-8 p.m. Addison County Civil War veteran Frederick Swift.
