Ski program a success!

MINERVA Although the Feb. 28 meeting of the Minerva Youth Commission (MYC) covered several items for discussion, it was the success of this winters ski program at Gore Mountain that provided the focus. Twenty-four Minerva Central School students signed up for the program, and nearly all of them attended the six weeks stretch from January to February. Great snow helped the program work, and allowed skiers and boarders alike to take lessons and enjoy all the Mountain has to offer. Discussion ran from snow to the mid-summer youth program, as the Commission members compared notes in regard to MYC employment applications. March 10 is the deadline for the youth commission to receive applications for youth program director, health director, assistant director, water safety instructor, and counselors. Despite the current reality of there being three or four feet of snow on the ground, its time to think about summer, and all that the Towns youth program has to offer. The veteran commissioners also welcomed the MYCs newest member, Ricale Howe, who was appointed to the Commission as a voting member at the most recent meeting of the Minerva Town Board. The MYC meets every fourth Thursday of the month at the Minerva Town Hall.
