HUDSON FALLS They hadnt lost a game since December. The Lake George Girls Basketball team was on a lengthy roll after what appeared to be a train-wreck of a start to the year. Perhaps it was all the experience theyd gained battling tough teams. Whatever it was, for nearly two months, other teams couldnt match up to their energy, talent and determination. The team that some had written off had fought back with vigor, capturing the Adirondack League championship. Twelve wins in a row took them deep into the Class CC Sectional tournament, where their teamwork had gelled and their skills were finally showcased. Wednesday, their impressive run came to an end, when they lost to the number-one sectional seed Mechanicville in a 49-31 Sectional semifinal game held in Hudson Falls. The stonewall defense of Mechanicville, ranked fourth in the state, shut down all but three players offensively. In the effort, Lake George Chrissy Scanlon managed to shoot a game-high 16 points and pull down 10 rebounds. Brittany Cracco assisted with 9 points and Meg Stover chipped in with 6. This week the energetic and scrappy North Warren Boys Basketball team was also still alive in the Class D tournament action. Their Tuesdays sectional game was postponed due to heavy snow, and was postponed to Thursday at the Glens Falls Civic Center. At press time, the outcome was yet to be known.
