Rotary Club accepting applications for RYLA program

PLATTSBURGH The Rotary Clubs of Plattsburgh are accepting applications for the Rotary District 7040 Rotary Youth Leadership Award Program. The awards are presented each year by the clubs within the district to recognize the high qualities of many young people who render service and leadership to their communities, and as a means to encourage, assist and train these future community leaders in responsible and effective leadership. The RYLA was adopted by Rotary International in 1971, and is one of the most significant and fastest-growing programs of Rotary service. The RYLA aims to demonstrate the Rotarys respect and concert for youth; provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders; encourage leadership of youth by youth; and recognize young people who are rendering service to their communities. People ages 14 to 30 who are involved or interested in leadership in areas such as recreation, church, youth agencies, political parties, business or cultural groups are invited to request an application. Applications may be obtained by Randy Giltz of the Sunrise Rotary Club at 561-7000 or randyg@northerninsuring.com. Those interested may also contact Rosemary Souza Bolten of the Noon Rotary Club at 561-7000 or rosemarys@northerninsuring.com. The deadline for applications to be submitted is Monday, March 31. The RYLA Program includes participation in a week long leadership seminar to be held in Mont Tremblant, Quebec from May 16 to May 21, including all accommodations, travel and meals and associated activities for this event. This interactive seminar focuses on an exchange of ideas by young people from Ontario, Quebec, and New York State in both indoor and outdoor learning environments.
