Marin appointed to Young Leaders Congress

PLATTSBURGH Ricki Marin has been appointed by First Lady Silda Wall Spitzer to the newly-formed Young Leaders Congress. The commission was formed to build upon the I Live New York initiative. The Young Leaders Congress is a group of dedicated and passionate young leaders appointed by the First Lady to tap the collective strength of the next generation throughout the state to engage their peers in addressing the states net loss of young people and making New York a more attractive place to live, work, raise a family, and start a business. The I Live New York initiative was announced last May by the First Lady in response to New Yorks ongoing and crippling net loss of young people, particularly upstate, for more than two decades. The YLC will enlist regional input to help us ensure young people have viable futures in New York, said Daniel C. Gundersen, Upstate Empire State Development chairman. I look forward to working with the inspiring and talented individuals on the Congress to make New York the best place to live, work, raise a family and run a business. The YLC will set attainable and measurable goals for each impact area and meet on a monthly basis to evaluate their progress and assess results. The YLC will also play a significant role in crafting the theme and content for the 2008 I Live New York summit and will present white papers on all of their focus areas, in addition to fostering engagement of the under 40 demographic with programs throughout the year.
