Looking for art work reflecting the region

SARANAC LAKE The Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is already gearing up for the busy tourist season. Members of the Chambers Tourism and Marketing Committee are hard at work on the 2008-2009 edition of the annual Saranac Lake Area Visitors Guide. As in the past, this full-color, professionally designed marketing tool will be distributed to tourism-related businesses, as well as in Visitor Center along the Northway and on I-81, in Alexandria Bay. Additionally, the Visitors Guide will also be forwarded to potential visitors who enquire about the region through the Web site and by telephone, as well as those who come through the doors at the Chamber. Last year, the Chamber published 20,000 copies of the Visitors Guide and already, supplies are extremely low. In order to accommodate demand, the Chamber plans on printing an additional 5,000 copies of this years guide. We are very excited to be working on the Visitors Guide as the quality of this very important marketing tool reflects the beauty and attractions our area has to offer, said Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sylvie D. Nelson. This year, the Tourism and Marketing Committee decided to highlight the arts, which are not only prominent in the Tri-Lakes area but are also an important component of our tourism-related activities. Committee members are seeking artists to submit, by electronic format if possible, work that reflects the area. The works chosen by committee members will be featured not only on the front page of the visitors guide but also throughout the 36-page publication. The artist featured on the front page will have a description of his or her work, as well as a biography featured inside the guide. The other artists whose work will be chosen will be given credit for their participation in this community project. Artists interested in participating in this project can submit a copy of their work by e-mail at info@saranaclake.com or by mail at the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, 39 Main Street, Saranac Lake, 12983. Deadline for submission is Friday, Feb. 29 at 4:30 p.m. Participants whose work is chosen to be featured by the committee in the upcoming Visitors Guide will be contacted. For more information, contact the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce at 518-891-1990 or by e-mail at info@saranaclake.com.
