Get-together raises donations for fire victims

WARRENSBURG Music, food and friendly conversation lasted into the wee hours Saturday night at George Henrys tavern, as 150 or so Warrensburg-area residents gathered to raise money to help out fire victims C.J. Johnson and his partner Kim Trapasso. The couples home on Morehouse Road was destroyed by fire Feb. 12. Johnson and Trapasso lost all their belongings, furnishings, and two dogs in the fire. The tavern was full of people Saturday donating money, offering help, sympathy and support while they had a good time. Country-rock artist Bobby Kendall of Fort Ann performed well into the night. The deadline for donations to be collected at George Henrys has been extended through early afternoon Sunday -- when a prize drawing will be held -- to accommodate more potential donors. Prizes include dinners at area restaurants including Brunettos and the Merrill-Magee House, plus collectibles, a wine basket, a Dale Earnhardt Jr. starter jacket, and a chainsaw sculpture of a bear crafted by Mike Irish of the Bear Cupboard. Donations may also be sent on behalf of the couple to Glens Falls National Bank, Main St. Warrensburg.
