Etta Lovett Cornwright

LEWIS Etta Lovett Cornwright, 90, of Cornwright Lane, Lewis, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at the Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown. She was born June 22, 1917, in Lewis, N.Y., the daughter of George E. and Emma (Lewis) Lovett. Etta was a licensed practical nurse and worked for local doctors up until her marriage to George Cornwright in 1941. She was a member of the Lewis Congregational Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, church clerk and president of the Womens Fellowship. She was the school tax collector for the Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School for 16 years and an election inspector for the Town of Lewis for 55 years. She is survived by her son, George Edward Cornwright of Lewis; a sister-in-law, Barbara Coolidge; a niece, Carolyn Minard and family; a nephew and wife, Charles and Laurain Coolidge and family, all of Torrington, Conn.; and several cousins. Calling hours were held Saturday, Feb. 23 at Marvin's Funeral Home and were followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Brainard's Forge Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Elizabethtown-Lewis Ambulance Squad, the Lewis Congregational Church, or the Horace Nye Home Activities Fund.
