Around the county

The last week in February and our Florida weather has little improved. We have had rain, thunder storms and cool weather the entire season and the weeks coming forecast is just about the same. As my roommate shares with me regularly, at least we arent shoveling it. Cant argue with him about that. Today is a monumental day and I will be giving my age away (or my approximate age). I have an appointment this morning to sign up for Social Security. This is the first time in many a year I have looked forward to a birthday. Be careful with woodstoves this time of year. It seems whenever you hear of a house/mobile home fire, woodstoves are involved. There are strict rules and regulations for the installation of these toasty, cozy stoves and they need to be followed. Sorry, that was a slip back to my insurance agent days. Hello and thank you to Crissb from Ausable Forks who sent me a lovely e-mail. I do know where Hawthorne is. Ill bet if you came back to Leesburg now, you would hardly recognize it. It has changed tremendously in the five years we have been here. Congratulations to Bob Munson who rolled his 9th 300 game while bowling for T Raville Painting at North Bowl Lanes. Im not a bowler, but I do realize that this is a major accomplishment. Also, congratulations to Mark Dragoon who rolled a 300 game during the recent Columbia 300 Classic, also at North Bowl Lanes. There are a lot of activities for senior citizens at the local YMCA. We are hoping to have a visit next weekend from Dan and Debbie (Sam) Witherwax. Havent heard a definite date yet, but we are looking forward to faces from home. Our daughter has booked a flight to come down and visit in April. Lets hope for no flu, pneumonia or anything else that might prevent their visit. Heres to the end of winter, warmth in the sun and in your homes and an open lake. Until next week, remember each day is Gods gift to you. Make it blossom and grow into a thing of beauty.
