ATF search Bristol home after shooting

BRISTOL On June 20, Bristol police responded to a shooting in the Shaws Parking Lot on Main Street. Officer George Crowe, while on duty on West Street, heard several gun shots coming from the area of Main Street. Crowe saw a vehicle leaving the area of the shooting and heard the vehicle running over something. Before he was able to stop the vehicle, it came at him crossing the centerline of West Street. Crowe stopped the vehicle and ordered the two occupants on the street at gunpoint. Additional police officers arrived on the scene and discovered that Joseph Bodington, age 39, of Bristol had fired eight rounds at a green SUV. One shot struck the rear window. Several cars parked on Main Street next to the Dans Place tavern were also hit by the additional rounds. Later in the day, according to Bristol Police Chief Kevin E. Gibbs, Bristol police and U.S. ATF agents executed a search warrant for Bodingtons residence. A marijuana grow operation was uncovered along with other drugs and weapons. ATF agents seized some of the evidence in connection with pending federal charges against Bodington to be filed by the U.S. Attorneys Office regarding the shooting. Additional state charges are being considered. Police are still looking for the green SUV struck by Bodingtons shot. No motive for the shooting has been released.
