Rockin' by the River

NORTH CREEK The Upper Hudson Festivals, Inc. has announced the schedule for its first ever season of Music by the River Concerts set to take place this summer. On Friday, July 25, Raisin Head will take the stage. This popular contemporary rock band is a local favorite, having most recently entertained the crowd at the annual White Water Derby Party. On Friday, August 29 reggae fans will be in for a treat when the nationally renowned Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad bring their sound to the River stage. Finally, on Friday, September 19, the Stony Creek Band will ring in autumn in the Adirondacks, playing both popular favorites and original tunes. These three concerts are free to the public and are being sponsored by local Johnsburg merchants. The Upper Hudson Festivals, Inc. is sponsoring the renowned Celtic band Hair of the Dog on Friday, June 27. Tickets for this concert are on sale now and can be purchased for $12.00 in advance or $15.00 at the gate the night of the event. The Music by the River Series is the brain-child of the Upper Hudson Festivals, Inc., a local not-for-profit corporation that formed in 2004 and has been responsible for establishing and running the popular Upper Hudson Bluegrass Festival. Our mission is really to promote quality musical events in the area for full time residents and visitors to be able to enjoy, said Joel Beaudin, one of the Festivals founders. The venue for all of these concerts will be the soon to be renovated Kellogg/Waddell complex situated on the banks of the Hudson River. These historic buildings had been in decline for decades when the Open Space Institute purchased them and in turn are in the process of conveyed them to Warren County. They are being renovated to serve as performance space and to provide space for a variety of other activities to benefit the people of the town. All four concerts begin at 7 p.m. Concert goers should bring their own lawn chairs or ground covers to sit on. All concerts are family friendly and suitable for all ages.
