Duo to perform at Methodist Church

LONG LAKE The Elegua Duo, consisting of Long Lake native, Claire Black, playing piano, and Ginevra Ventre playing cello, will open the summer concert series in with a performance at the United Methodist Church Thursday evening, July 3 at 7:30 p.m. Claire and Ginevra first collaborated musically when both were students at Baldwin-Wallace. As The Elegua Duo, they specialize in bringing the classics of the cell-piano duo repertoire to venues outside the concert hall, from neighborhood cafes to college campuses and other such community-based settings. While students, they established Baldwin-Wallace Colleges Caf_oon Concert Series, and recent highlights of their partnership include performances at the Tannery Pond Community Center in North Creek, the Fulbright Assn, and The Westwood Country Club, in Cleveland. Claire Black has been an active participant in the Long Lake Friends of Music Concert Series since its inception in 2004, as both a solo performer and as an accompanist for other artists. The Elegua Duo will perform chamber music by Brahms, Beethoven and Chopin. A reception to meet the artists will follow the concert. This concert is first in a series presented by the Long Lake Friends of Music and partially funded by public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Regrant Program. In Hamilton County, the Decentralization Program is administered by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts, located in Blue Mountain Lake.
