Basin Harbor wins chamber award

ADDISON COUNTY Last fall at the Addison County Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting, Basin Harbor Club was chosen to receive the Chambers Business of the Year award for their outstanding commitment to providing exceptional service to Addison County visitors for many decades. Basin Harbor Club is owned and operated by fourth generation hosts, siblings Pennie Beach and Bob Beach, Jr. Their great aunt bought the property in 1882 for $4,000 when it came up at a tax sale. The property was then a farm and has now evolved into a resort that boosts 142 rooms and employs 325 people in the summer and 30 people year round. Many of their seasonal employees are from all over the world, which adds a tremendous dimension to the staff. Basin Harbor Club was recognized as one of the top 10 Best Places to work in Vermont by the Best Companies Group in 2006. Both Bob and Pennie are active in the Addison County Community, serving on various boards of local organizations. Bruce Hyde, Vermont Commissioner of Tourism and Marketing had the following to say about Basin Harbor Club: Basin Harbor is truly an icon in the Vermont travel industry. The Beach family has done an outstanding job of offering a unique lakeside family resort that has families return year after year for generations.
