Man arrested at local motel faces drug charges

LAKE GEORGE A Glens Falls man staying at a motel here is facing a drug charge after cocaine was found in his motel room, police said. At about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 14 Warren County Sheriffs Dept. officers executed a search warrant at the Holly Tree Motel, state Rte. 9, and discovered about 5.4 ounces of cocaine along with an assortment of drug paraphernalia, police said. The rooms occupant, James Scott Atherton-Ely, 24, of Gage St., Glens Falls, was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. Atherton-Ely was arraigned Sunday in Lake George Court and was sent to the county jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail. The case was investigated by the Sheriff's Dept. narcotics enforcement unit and the Glens Falls Police Dept.
