Carmageddon coming this Sunday to Airborne Speedway

PLATTSBURGH Automotive madness will invade the North Country as Brian Carsons Carmageddon comes to Airborne Speedway this weekend. The speedway will host the event this Sunday, June 8, beginning at 2 p.m. Carmageddon will feature a car show with trailer races, backward car racing, and Transaurus, the worlds only jet-powered, fire-breathing metallic Dinosaur of Destruction. The afternoons festivities will conclude with a fender-bending finale featuring stunt performer Chris Morena attempting to set a world record pick-up truck jump over two big-rig tractor trailers parked end to end. Elizabethtown native Brian Carson designed and is coordinating the stunt Morena will be attempting. Carson, has been jumping autos for the past 25 years. He has set the world record for furthest jump 314 feet and the most cars totaled more than 2,200 in all. Carson has made a name for himself by leaping man and machine off casino rooftops and other venues across the United States and Canada. He has had several prime-time network television appearances and through it all, has suffered several dozen bone fractures. He sports several surgical steel plates, pins, and screws throughout his body. His various accidents have led to retirement from active stunt work. Carsons last stunt, in 2001, nearly took his life. With the past behind him, he now hands the reins over to Morena, with whom hold professional respect. His attitude and professionalism to this dangerous trade has truly impressed me from day one, said Carson. As well as already being an excellent [driver], hes way above an apprentice stunt driver. Period. Morena is a veteran of the now defunct Belknaps Hollywood Stunt Show and works now as a featured stunt driving performer in the Lights, Motors, Action! stunt show at Disney/MGM Studios in Florida. The cost of admission to this Sundays show will be $12 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12 and free for children younger than 5. Family passes are also available for families of four for $25.
