CVAA delivers 4,000 lbs. of pet food

BURLINGTON The Champlain Valley Agency on Aging delivered nearly a ton of pet food in May to help seniors who are feeling the pinch of rising prices to take care of their pets. Every day there are seniors in the Champlain Valley who worry about how they are going to afford to take care of their pets. Many Meals on Wheels recipients share their meal with their dog or cat. The Champlain Valley Agency on Aging started the Feed Pets 2 campaign to make sure that seniors and their pets receive their proper nutrition and that no senior has to worry about how they will take care of their primary companion. According to Beverly Hill, volunteer coordinator for the Champlain Valley Agency on Aging "By helping seniors pets, we help maintain the health of the pets and ensure that the seniors eat their own food which helps maintain their own health." Over 1,800 pounds of pet food were delivered to 112 dogs, cats and birds in the Champlain Valley. The Feed Pets 2 campaign would not of have been possible without partnerships with Lyric Theater and Pet Food Warehouse. Lyric Theater collected pet food during its "Beauty and the Beast" production this spring.
