Old Home Day returns next Sunday for 41st year

CHAZY The Chazy chapter of Lions Club International will once again host the towns annual Old Home Day this Sunday, July 27. The 41st annual celebration will be held at the Chazy Recreation Park, located on North Farm Road, one-half-mile east of state Route 9. Several events will round out Old Home Day, beginning at noon. A classic car show, flea market, six-on-six soccer tournament and kids activities will be held throughout the afternoon and a chicken barbecue will be held until sold out. A food booth will also sell hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, sausages and French fries. Raffles will be conducted as well. Musical performances will be hosted, with Gary Finney playing his blend of oldies music from 12-1:30 p.m., Larry Ebere playing country music from 1:30-3 p.m., and the band South Junction playing country rock from 3-5:30 p.m. Old Home Day will also feature a king and queen for the event, consisting of a pair crowned based off contributions they have made throughout the community in the past year. Ray Devins, past Chazy Lions Club president and event coordinator, said Old Home Day is a family-oriented event that provides something for everyone. Its a day that started out for the older people of Chazy, but it eventually grew, getting bigger and bigger, said Devins. Its a lot of work, but we have a lot of people who help out. Those interested in contributing to Old Home Day or interested in more information, may contact Devins at 563-5500.
