Fatal fire sparks investigation

MONKTON On July 19, Chief Curtis Layn of the Monkton Fire Department requested an investigation of a fatal fire at 344 Mountain Rd. Monkton, Bristol, Hinesburg, and Starksboro fire crews all responded to the fire. The homeowner, Richard Bigue, age 66, was found deceased in the home. The Vermont Police Fire Investigation Unit and the Department of Public Safety conducted an origin and cause of the fire. Two other people home at the time of the fire escaped without injury they are Charles Bigue, age 42, and Dorothy Adams, age 28. The Red Cross also responded to provide needed assistance. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation but is not considered suspicious. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Vermont State Police at 802-748-3111 (Detective Sgt.
