Downtown open for business

RUTLAND Despite downtown Rutlands recent flooding and clean-up, shoppers will still find many businesses open. While a few merchants remain closed, the rumor that everything is closed is a misconception, according to city officials. There are signs of returning normalcy to downtown Rutland: the recent return of Friday Night Live featuring live entertainment, dining and shopping opportunities in a block party environment have brought hundreds of eager shoppers and people looking for things to do. Also, there are ongoing shows at the Paramount Theatre. Tuesday afternoon and Saturday morning brings to downtown Rutland Farmers Market with fresh local produce and arts and crafts in Depot Park. Ample parking is now available on the streets, at the plaza and at the Marble Valley Transit Center (entrance on West Street). For more information about the downtown cleanup, contact the Downtown Rutland Partnership at 802-773-9380 or see www.rutlanddowntown.com. Local events are listed at invitevt.com.
