SARANAC LAKE The Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Village of Saranac Lakes Ever-Green Saranac Lake Team (formerly the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy CEDS Team), Adirondack Economic Development Corporation, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority is organizing an Energy Day to help bring information to the local population so residents can address concerns about the rising fuel costs. The event will be held at the Town of Harrietstown Town Hall Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, September 20. It will feature a series of informational sessions as well as booths displaying energy-related products and services. The Chamber wants to help local residents find tangible solutions to the high cost of heating oil, said Sylvie D. Nelson, SLACC Executive Director. This includes bringing discussion and demonstration of do-it-yourself energy conservation techniques, alternative fuels, low-cost energy strategies that really work, information on heating assistance programs and who can qualify, one-on-one help with program applications and safety issues. The Chamber is working on having vendors demonstrate products on the premises and admission to Expo Day will be free. We are pleased to welcome local merchants so they can provide product information and expertise on ways residents can reduce their energy costs, said Keith Wells, SLACC Vice President. Already some efforts by local residents are underway. Local energy specialist Dave Trudeau has taken this issue to heart by researching wood pellet solutions for area residents. Vendors interested in participating in the Expo Day or for more information, please contact the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce at 518-891-1990 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
