Orminski arrested on contractor fraud charge

BRANT LAKE A Horicon contractor was arrested Friday and charged with third-degree Grand Larceny after police investigated his activities and accused him of contractor fraud. Edward D. Orminski, 59, of 168 Watering Tub Rd., Brant Lake, was accused by police of accepting money to construct a house but not completing the work and failing to pay suppliers for materials used in construction. The Warren County Sheriffs Dept. has been investigating Orminskis activities since April, police said. The victim incurred several liens on his property from the suppliers of the materials, police said. After paying off the suppliers and what had been previously paid to Orminski, the victim suffered a loss of over $40,000, they estimated. A search warrant was executed on the Orminski home last week, and all business records pertaining to several businesses fronted by Orminski were seized. Orminski was arraigned in Horicon Town Court and sent to Warren County Correctional Facility for lack of $20,000 cash bail. The case was investigated by Investigator Russ Lail and other Sheriffs Dept. investigators.
