Ticonderoga Heritage quilts

TICONDEROGA The Ticonderoga Heritage Museum will hold its third annual Quilt and Textile Show Saturday, August 16 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Quilters, textile crafters, and quilt owners willing to have their products on display are wanted. Museum officials are looking for quilts from antique to contemporary as well as materials from local weavers and textile crafters. The skill of using fabric and textiles for bedding, rugs, table covers, and other art forms, bridges many generations, said Sylvia Boyce. This practical ability from years past is todays cherished heirloom that continues to be a visible historic tale of our economy, creativity and culture. The museum presents this display as a symbol of our heritage. To help pass this ability on to future generations, there will be demonstrations and basic quilting instruction available throughout the day. People interested in doing a demonstration of a craft should contact Joan at 585-7342. Registration forms are available at the Heritage Museum (at the entrance to Bicentennial Park) from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily. People can also call the museum at 585-2696, or Joan at 585-7342 for more information. Registrations must be in no later than August 10 to ensure a listing in the shows directory.
