MIDDLEBURY With the help of sponsorships such as Hinman Associates, the Middlebury Area Little League held its annual fundraiser recently at the Brush Memorial Arena to kick-off the baseball season. We had tremendous turnout for the barbeque and the second annual Middlbury Area Wiffle Ball Homerun Competition, said retiring league board member Ted Shambo. We want to give public thanks to all who turned out to support the Little League program, involved parents, Bill Ford of MAHA, and of course our wonderful sponsors. Shambo especially thanked Chevrolet and Shea Motors of Middlebury for donations of new baseball and softball equipment as well as financial support in helping the league bring a softball program back again, for a second year, under Middlebury Area Little League. We also wish to give great appreciation to all the local businesses for their wonderful team sponsorships and donations, said Shambo. In addition to other generous donors, Connor Homes produced a new storage shed for the league which will erected at the American Legion ballfield. Ted Otis provided volunteer labor for fixing up the leagues snack shack, and Pattie Hayes dedicated the running of the snack shack before, during, and after the games. Also, thanks very much to the parents, coaches, umpires and volunteers for helping to keep baseball alive in Middlebury, Shambo added. Through great sponsors and with the dedication and leadership of the board of directors in recent years, the league has new equipment, new buildings, and a solid foundation for years to come.
