Fifth anniversary of "Dinner at Eight"

ELIZABETHTOWN The Auxiliary of Elizabethtown Community Hospital has announced that July 26 has been designated as the official Dinner at Eight date for this year. Dinner at Eight is an annual fundraiser whereby the Auxiliary enlists the help of host families to invite guests to an event of their choosing: Dinner, cocktails, picnic, BBQ, brunch, or whatever. The host sends the guest list to the Auxiliary who sends the invitations along with donation information. The guests enjoy a social event with friends and family and the Auxiliary uses the donations to purchase items for various departments within the hospital that are not afforded in the budget. Over the past four years this event has raised nearly $28,000 and purchased items such as geriatric chairs, a sleeper chair for visitors, laboratory equipment, emergency room equipment, funding towards the CT scanner purchase an much more. "We are so excited to be celebrating our fifth year," said Gayle Alexander, event chair. "This is such a great fund raiser, we couldn't succeed without the unfailing help of both our hosts and their guests. I know this is a tough year what with the economy and gas prices the way they are, but think of your donation this way: If you budget for a nice dinner out occasionally, you can use some of those funds because that's exactly what you are doing, You're getting a wonderful meal prepared by friends and your donation is going to help in ways you never imagined," stated Alexander. All donations benefit Patient Care Equipment and as always there will be a cocktail party at the Hand House on River Street in Elizabethtown at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26 for anyone, guest or host, participating in a Dinner at Eight event. If you would like to host a dinner or be a guest at someone's home, call the Community Relations Office at ECH at 873-3003 or e-mail khaley@ech.org for more information.
