Cantor to sing in Newcomb and Lake Placid

NEWCOMB Cantor Tami Gorman, winner of prestigious musical awards will perform at the Lake Placid Synagogue, Saturday July 26 at 7 p.m., and at the Newcomb United Methodist Church, Sunday July 27, at 3.30 pm. Cantor Gorman earned Masters Degree from New England Conservatory of Music and was awarded a Doctoral Fellowship from the University of Connecticut where she taught voice and was Director of the "Women in the Arts" program. In addition Cantor Gorman won First Prize in the National Association of the Teachers of Singing vocal competition in Florida. Presently Tami Gorman is the Cantor for Congregation Kol Haverim in Glastonbury Connecticut and throughout the United States presents concerts, lectures,guest soloist concerts and serves as a Vocal Competition judge. The concerts in Lake Placid and Newcomb will be "Jewish Composers Contributions to the Music of Broadway. Some of the songs the cantor will sing will be Summertime, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, There's No BusinessLike Show Business, Far From the Home I Love,and Corner of the Sky. Accompanying Cantor Gorman will be Herbert Chatzky, winner of numerous scholarships, fellowships, awards as accompanist, pianist, horn player, organist, conductor and director of major talent competitions.
