AARP seeking Driver Safety volunteers

ELIZABETHTOWN Looking for a way to give back to your community? AARP is recruiting volunteers to help make the AARP Driver Safety Program available to all drivers in Essex County who want to improve and maintain their driving skills. The AARP Driver Safety Program is taught and administered by a nationwide network of AARP-trained volunteers. You dont need to be an AARP member or be a retiree to volunteer. All Driver Safety volunteers receive free training. The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation's first and largest refresher course for drivers age 50 and older that has helped millions of drivers remain safe on today's roads. More than two million New Yorkers age 50+ have taken AARPs Driver Safety Program since its inception in 1979. The eight-hour course is designed to help drivers tune up their driving skills, update their knowledge of the road, and learn about normal age-related physical changes and how to adjust their driving to allow for these changes. The Driver Safety Program in Essex County is recruiting for all positions, especially for a volunteer Assistant State Coordinator to supervise the planning, promotion, and implementation of the program in the county.
