World War II, Korea veteran dies

BRANDON William Francis Leinhart, age 91, died Saturday, June 14 at his home in Brandon. Leinhart was born in Newburgh, N.Y. August 6, 1916. He was a member of the New York National Guard before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1937. He served under Admiral Halsey aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise during World War II. He steamed into Pearl Harbor the day after the Japanese attack. He served in the Pacific Theatre. He had also served during the Korean Conflict. He was Honorably Discharged as a Chief Petty officer in 1957. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in his memory, to St. Marys Church Restoration Fund, 36 Carver St., Brandon 05733 or to the Rutland County Humane Society, 765 Stevens Rd., Pittsford 05763.
